Fatal accident on Port Henderson Road in Portmore

A tragic accident early this morning has claimed the life of an unidentified female pedestrian. 

Reports say the incident occurred around 5:20 a.m., when a taxi operator was driving their white 2012 Toyota Probox westbound along the Port Henderson main road in St Catherine. the driver was near Jamaica Plumbing and Blaze Gas Station, where the roadway divides into a dual carriageway, when the fatal accident took place.

According to reports, the woman suddenly ran from the median into the path of the vehicle. Despite attempts to avoid her, she was struck and collapsed on the roadway, and succumbed to her injuries.

The police who arrived at the scene conducted a breathalyzer test on the driver. No signs of impairment were indicated according to investigators. 

At this time, investigations into the accident are ongoing.

The authorities are urging anyone with information about the incident or the identity of the woman to come forward and assist in the investigation.
