St Catherine man charged for overseas work programme scam
The police have slapped a St Catherine man, who reportedly claimed that he has connections, with several charges arising from an alleged overseas work programme fraud.
Harvey Dawkins, 59, from Mount Royal Estate, is charged with obtaining money by means of false pretence, operating an employment agency without a licence and breaching the Consumer Protection Act.
He is scheduled to appear before the Kingston and St Andrew Parish Court on Wednesday, September 11.
It is being alleged that Dawkins, under the facade of being a businessman with government connections, told a woman that he could get her on an overseas work programme.
The woman reportedly gave him her documents and made payments totalling $435,000.
With no trip overseas or a refund, a police report was filed and Dawkins was arrested and charged following investigations.
