Electrician accused of defrauding elderly woman

An electrician who allegedly defrauded a senior citizen of US$2,100 after convincing her that he could get the money converted to Jamaican dollars but failed to do so has been charged.

He is Michael Campbell, 34 years old, of Beatrice Crescent, Kingston.

Reports are that in June Campbell allegedly convinced the 71-year-old complainant that he knew of  someone who could convert her money.

The complainant gave the cash to him with the understanding that he would return with the equivalentin Jamaican dollars, but he didn't.

The accused reportedly told the complainant that he placed the money in his account and would pay her soon.

Not receiving the money after 10 weeks, the complainant reported the matter to the Spanish Town police.

Following an investigation, Campbell was arrested and was charged with fraudulent conversion.
