Juliet Holness appeals to women to support JLP gov’t
Member of Parliament for St Andrew East Rural Juliet Holness says the Jamaica Labour Party (JLP) administration has done more to promote the equal rights of Jamaican women and appealed to women to give their backing to the government.
Holness, who is the wife of Prime Minister Dr Andrew Holness, says the JLP is a progressive organisation that supports gender equality in Jamaica.
Speaking this afternoon at the party’s annual conference at the National Arena in St Andrew she listed several public positions to which women have been appointed under the current administration.
Most notable, the recent appointment of the country's first female Minister of Education, Fayval Williams.
"My Jamaican family, there is no doubt at all that the Jamaica Labour Party is the party of choice for women. We have strongly and actively taken steps to protect our women," she said.
