Driver charged with shooting passenger during dispute
A 57-year-old driver is behind bars and facing criminal charges after a dispute ended with him shooting a passenger on-board his bus last week.
Peter Campbell, a licensed firearm holder, has been charged with wounding with intent and using a firearm to commit a felony, the St Andrew South Police have confirmed.
The incident occurred along Mandela Highway near the Six Mile Bridge about 11p.m. on February 17.
According to the police, Campbell got into a dispute with the passenger while operating the vehicle.
It's alleged that the dispute escalated and Campbell discharged his firearm, a 9mm pistol, injuring the passenger.
Campbell drove the injured passenger to the Kingston Public Hospital for treatment, according to a police report.
He was charged after an interview conducted in the presence of his attorney Peter Champagnie K.C., the police said.
The St Andrew South Police said the investigation is ongoing.
