Police probing several shootings and murders

Since early Monday morning at least eight serious incidents and two fatal shootings have been under investigation by the police, including the shooting of a 54-year-old fisherman.

According to the police's information arm, the Constabulary Communications Unit, up to this afternoon, the latest incidents, a murder that occurred this morning in Hanover, and a fatal shooting in Tivoli Gardens in West Kingston, are still being processed by investigators at the crime scenes.

Except for the two fatal shootings, the injury of the fisherman who was shot at his home in Westmorland; the death of Romoy Bailey, 30, of Salem, Runaway Bay, St Ann, who succumbed Monday in a pre-dawn motor vehicle crash on the AGR Byfield Highway in the parish, and that of Romario Fraser, also called 'Tuku' or 'Stick Man', whose body was found in Trench Town, Kingston with a wound to the head, the other incidents were confirmed homicides.

Among the other deceased persons are Kevrol Simpson, 39, who was shot and killed at the Old Harbour Bay Fishing Village in St Catherine yesterday afternoon; and an identified man who was shot and killed in Seaforth, St Thomas late last night.

Police, in the meantime, said Shane Bulgin, 32, was fatally shot by cops during an armed confrontation in Top Geneva, Westmoreland, Monday morning.

The cops said they retrieved a Taurus nine-millimetre pistol, with a magazine containing five 9mm cartridges, from him.
