Alleged killer 'Crazy' gunned down in Westmoreland

A major police operation in Westmoreland ended in bloodshed after a high risk target and two of his associates were shot and killed during a confrontation with lawmen in the Cornwall Mountain area.

The deceased has been identified as Delano Leslie, otherwise called 'Crazy'. He and two other men were fatally wounded during an intelligence driven operation carried out by members of the Area 1 Fugitive Apprehension Team in the Cornwall Mountain community, within the Bethel Town Police District.

Police said the team came under gunfire during the operation, which resulted in the deadly confrontation. Two pistols were seized at the scene.

Leslie was a wanted man in connection with several serious crimes. He was being sought for the murder of Dwayne Ottey, otherwise called 'Sparrow', who was killed in Mackfield, Westmoreland, in May 2024, as well as the murder of Joshua Richards in Johnson Town, Hanover, in December 2023.

He was also wanted in relation to two separate incidents in which police reportedly came under gunfire in the Cornwall Mountain area, one in March 2025 and another in September 2025.

Investigations into the incident are continuing.
