Expect an "Ellis" show
THE country's top junior athletes will be in action this Saturday and Sunday inside the National Stadium as they seek places on the country's team to the Carifta Games in
St Georges, Grenada from March 26-28.
Today we begin a look at some of the expected stars.
St Elizabeth Technical's Nigel Ellis is very hot in the 100 metres so far this season and after a majestic run on the final leg for his team to win the 4x400 metres event at last weekend's Gibson-McCook Relays all eyes will be on him as he is expected to compete in both the Under 20 100m and 200m events.
With lifetime bests of 10.20 seconds and 20.40 seconds in the respective races, at the Western Championships, Ellis looks set to continue his good- form and will start favourite for the double this weekend.
While Ellis will start favourite, the likes St Jago High's Raheem Chambers, Waseem Williams of Jamaica College, and the Calabar duo of Xavior Angus and Fabian Hewitt will be hoping to create a major upset.
Chambers, who is recovering from injury, made his debut this season at the Gibson-McCook Relays in the Class One 4x100 metres and with his good early speed he could steal a march.
