Neita blasts regional spinners

Jamaica Cricket Association vice-president Mark Neita has criticised Cricket West Indies (CWI) selectors for insisting to picking what he considers sub-par spin bowlers, while omitting Jamaican bowler Nikita Miller, who he considers the best in the region.

"I don't think the quality of our spin bowling has been that good," Neita told STAR Sports. "The reason why most of the spinners have done very well in the region is because they have been playing on pitches that help them. I don't think it necessarily means we have outstanding spin bowlers. When those bowlers play at the Test level, they get hammered."

Neita made reference to what he considers CWI's poor use of local spinner Nikita Miller.

"One of the things I don't understand is, if you're going to play some of those spin bowlers, why would you not play somebody like Nikita Miller? I'm not talking about him just because he's a Jamaican, but the statistics suggest that he's the number-one bowler in the region, ever, when it comes to wicket-taking.

"He has been consistent in four-day cricket but, when they pick Nikita Miller, they pick him for him to play 50-over cricket. Dat don't mek nuh sense to me," he scoffed.
