Jhaniele Fowler-Reid, captain of Jamaica's Sunshine Girls team, said veteran coach Connie Francis is the ideal replacement for Sasher-Gaye Henry, who resigned a co-head coach of the senior team last week.

Fowler-Reid said Francis is an excellent coach, who is well-respected by the national players.

"Connie Francis is an amazing coach because she has a wealth of knowledge and I feel she will do a good job coming back," said Fowler-Reid.

"I feel she is adaptable as well, because things and times have changed, and I feel that change is going to be needed. I hope if she is the one coming in, she will make some positive changes," Fowler-Reid said.

Francis, who represented Waulgrovians during her playing career, led the Sunshine Girls to a bronze medal at the World Championships in Auckland, New Zealand, in 2007.

The tough-talking tactician also guided the Jamaicans to the bronze medal at the inaugural FastNet Championships in 2008.

It is understood that Henry, who handed in her resignation to the Dr Paula Daley-Morris led organisation a few days ago, also did not fill out a section of Netball Jamaica's Commonwealth Games team report form, which was handed to her following last month's Commonwealth Games, which was held on Australia's Gold Coast.

Fowler-Reid, who currently plies her trade in Australia's Suncorp Super League competition, added that she would certainly love the opportunity to work with Francis again.

"I would definitely support her appointment," said Fowler-Reid, who is regarded as one of the best goal shooters in the world.

"The relationship between me and her was good and she is a good coach because I had no problem with her the first time I worked with her," she said.

"At the moment, I am working with her at the university (The Mico) as well and so I would be pretty pleased to work with her with the national team. She understands her players and she tries her best to work with each player individually," Fowler-Reid stated.
