Windies aiming for consolation win

The West Indies Women's team will be gunning for a win to take back home with them as they face England in the fifth and final T20 International at the Incora County Ground today starting at noon Jamaica time.

The Andre Coley-led Windies Women are staring down a five-nil series whitewash after the world number-two ranked England team secured back-to-back, 47-run wins followed up by a 20-run victory and 44-run win on Monday in the fourth T20 International.

It will take a Herculean effort for the regional girls to get one over on their English counterparts, who have dominated the series with the bat, ball and in the field.

The last time the West Indies beat England in a T20 encounter was in 2018 at the World Cup in St Lucia. That victory was four years after they had defeated the English girls by nine runs in Sylhet.

Coach Andre Coley has already put pen to paper to highlight some of the areas that the girls need to improve on as they look to future series ahead.

"We need to work on our fitness and also, we have to build capacity around our batting. We have to find ways to add scoring options in our game and generally raise the skill level of our players," he said.

Coley added that the team has shown a lot of improvement in some areas in the current series, with the West Indies showing great resolve in the bowling power plays against their rivals.

After the fourth T20 match, captain Stafanie Taylor hinted that the team could see more changes for the final game as the visitors aim to leave the UK with a consolation win.

The West Indies made three changes ahead of the fourth match, with Aaliyah Alleyne, Karishma Ramharack and Shabika Gajnabi coming in for Afy Fletcher, Chinelle Henry and Shakera Selman.

Selman and Fletcher are expected to return to action, with the Windies expected to replace the woefully out-of-form Lee-Ann Kirby at the top of the order.
