J’can Robinson’s double strike leads El Paso to USL Play-offs
Former Wolmer's Boys and Harbour View youth player, Saeed Robinson, scored a brace over the weekend to help guide his team El Paso Locomotiv to a 4-0 win over Real Monarchs in the United States Soccer League.
The 30-year-old Jamaican came off the bench and scored in the 78th and 87th minutes to lead El Paso to their ninth win of the USL campaign, which now sees them topping Group 'C' with 32 points, that is, five more than nearest rivals New Mexico United.
Robinson and the Locomotiv outfit will now turn their attention to the Western Conference Quarter-finals at Southwest University Park, where they will take on FC Tulsa.
The field and bracket for the 2020 USL Championship Play-offs was completed on Sunday night, with 16 teams set to vie for a place in the 2020 USL Championship Final on Sunday, November 1.
In the Western Conference, Phoenix Rising, who will be without the suspended Jamaican attacker Junior Flemmings, will take on Sacramento Republic. Phoenix will be banking on another Jamaican, Kevon Lambert, to lead their charge.
Other Jamaicans who will be involved in the play-offs are Dane Kelly's Charlotte Independence, who will square off with Charleston Battery. Neco Brett's Birmingham Legion will do battle with Tampa Bay Rowdies.
Louisville City and national midfielder Devon Williams face off with another Jamaican, Kenardo Forbes, and the Pittsburgh River hounds.
