As the nation still awaits the decision on local football's resumption, South Central Confed Super League team Treasure Beach FC is wasting little time in putting plans in place, as they aim to make it to the summit of local football, the National Premier League.

The south coast side have brought in eight new players, including a number of them with Premier League experience, to help their chances of playing top-flight football soon.

Treasure Beach FC, who finished second in the Super League, which was halted due to the pandemic last season, has called on former Reno FC player Romario Smith and Travis Mattis, along with former Harbour View and St Elizabeth Technical captain Romario Thompson.

National under-17 and former Munro College captain Damion Jones has also been brought in to bolster the attacking Treasure Beach unit, which scored in all the games they played last season. The other new players are Tedlar Parchment, Remeilo Brown, Kadeen Stones and Jermaine Holmes.

After losing just one game last season, the Kemar Ricketts-coached Treasure Beach will be eager to get the new season going to showcase their new talents and push for a place in the Premier League play-offs.

We need more experience and talent

"These players will improve the team in all areas. We were lacking in certain positions on the team from the previous premature-ended competition, so we decided if we want to reach the Premier League, we needed more experience and talent.

"We went and got a goalkeeper and we also brought in a centre back and a right back, as well as an attacking and defensive midfielder," added Ricketts.

Smith, a former Newell High School player, says he is hoping for a quick resumption of local football as he and the rest of his teammates seek to stamp their class as the best football team to come out of St Elizabeth.

"My expectation is simply to bring this team to the Premier League and even go on to win. There are a lot of good players already here and we want to settle and gel as one quickly so that we can build a solid side," said Smith.

Treasure Beach FC are to begin training in the coming weeks in preparation for the new Super League season.
