Mindley isolated after COVID-19 test
Fast bowler Marquino Mindley will have to wait a while before he can be in the West Indies preparation camp for the South Africa series, as he tested positive for COVID-19 on his second test.
After the medical protocols established with the St Lucian Ministry of Health, Mindley, who is said to be asymptomatic, has been isolating in his hotel room under the supervision of the Cricket West Indies' (CWI) medical team.
The Jamaica Scorpions bowler will then have to wait until he returns two back-to-back negative results before he will be able to join the rest of the 30-man training squad now in St Lucia.
All other members of the training squad and coaching team were re-tested and isolated in their rooms, with training cancelled for the weekend.
After negative tests, the squad will train in small groups starting at the Daren Sammy Cricket Ground starting today.
The West Indies Test training camp is being held in a biosecure environment ahead of the ICC World Test Championship two-match Series against South Africa, scheduled to start on June 10.
CWI says it continues to work with all the regional governments and the Caribbean Public Health Agency to encourage and assist all squad members to get vaccinated. To date, 43 members of West Indies Men's playing and coaching staff have received vaccination doses.
