SA pacer impressed with Windies debutant Seales

South African fast bowler Lungi Ngidi may have stolen the honours on the opening day of the first Test against the West Indies with his five wickets, but the towering pacer was equally impressed with debutant West Indies pacer Jayden Seales, who managed to pick up three South African batsmen of his own.

Ngidi finished with five for 19, while fellow pacer Anrich Nortje bagged four for 35 to bowl out the West Indies for their lowest Test total of 97 against the Proteas. Seales has so far taken three for 34 to restrict the visitors to 128 for four heading into today's second day, that's a lead of 31 runs with six wickets in hand.

It was a disciplined bowling effort from the South African seamers who held their catches after being asked to field, however, Ngidi believes young Seales has a bright future following his first bowl in international Test cricket.

"He is a bit of a danger and a very exciting future lies ahead for West Indies with him in the line-up," said Ngidi.

The towering pacer said he has been observing the Trinidadian and he likes what he sees so far for the former West Indies under-19 player.

A GREAT WRIST

"I was keeping a really good eye on him and his seam presentation is pretty much what I tried to do when I was bowling. I think he has a great wrist behind the ball and a very clean action and he seems he can run in all day," added Ngidi.

In the meantime, Seales had a bitter-sweet introduction to Test cricket, despite claiming three wickets, his team is under the pump and facing a huge task to get a positive result after falling behind.

For Seales, getting his first Test wicket, that of Keegan Petersen, was an unbelievable feeling, and he wants more of the same for the remainder of the match.

"It was an amazing feeling, and from the time he edged the ball I knew it was out, because Jason (Holder) is a very safe slip fielder, so I started celebrating right away," said Seales.

The young pacer also picked up the wickets of the innings top scorer so far, Aiden Markham for 60, and another debutant Kyle Verreynne for six.

"I want to remain as consistent as possible and try to create pressure and don't try anything different and I will get more wickets", added Seales.
