Coach Walsh seeks self-belief and consistency ahead of Pakistan series

West Indies Women's head coach Courtney Walsh says the players are eager to get out on the park and get some match action under their belt in the upcoming series against Pakistan.

The West Indies Women's Senior team will play three CG Insurance T20Is against Pakistan Women from June 30 to July 3, with the West Indies Women's 'A' Team also playing their historic, first-ever three-match T20I Series on the same dates.

Antigua's Coolidge Cricket Ground and Sir Vivian Richards Stadium will host the Series, with the 'A' Team matches preceding the senior team matches in back-to-back "doubleheader" fixtures.

Walsh, who has been taking the team through a rigorous four-week camp in Antigua, says he is looking for consistency from his troops, who will be playing their first competitive series since the England tour last September.

"I am looking for all-around performances and improvements in all departments. It's all about focusing now on awareness and consistency, and this Pakistan tour, we will see how much we have improved and our readiness for international cricket again," said Walsh.

World Cup qualifiers

The series will be used as part of the team's build-up to the ICC Women's World Cup qualifiers in Sri Lanka in December, and Walsh is hoping that the 28 players involved in the camp will put their hands up for selection to the final squad later in the year.

"The thought process and the type of cricket we want to play is to go out and win as many games as possible. I am expecting the girls to back themselves and be more confident and play the brand of cricket that Caribbean people can be proud of and give the selectors a headache when it's time to pick the team," added Walsh.

Jamaica's Stafanie Taylor, one of the greatest all-rounders of all-time, will again captain the senior team while Trinidadian Reniece Boyce, the experienced wicket-keeper/batter, has been named to lead the 'A' Team.
