WI Women on a high after sweeping T20 series

The West Indies Women's team is still celebrating the 3-0 series win over Pakistan, following the third and final game in Antigua on Sunday.

Captain Stafanie Taylor put in a player of the match performance as the West Indies first dismissed Pakistan for 102, then made 106 for four in 19.1 overs to win by six wickets.

Taylor first led the way with the ball by bagging four wickets, including a hat-trick, to stifle the Pakistani innings. Right arm off-spinner Anisa Mohammed also came up big bagging three for 24, as only Aliya Riaz with 29 got among the runs.

The West Indies' run chase was led admirably by Taylor, who hit four fours in her unbeaten knock of 43. She added first 41 for the fourth wicket with Chedean Nation (20), then shared in a 48-run unbroken fifth-wicket partnership with wicketkeeper Kycia Knight who was not out on 24.

"I knew that today that I had to step up because the first two games didn't go as we would have liked. I just thought that the wicket today, once you get yourself in, you could go big and that was the plan," said Taylor.

Taylor, who was named Player of the Match, says she was elated that her team could come away with a series win for the first time since 2019.

"It feels really good. We knew that we have been out of touch after losing to England, but it is a good feeling to actually come back and win 3-0. We have not done that in a long time. This is a great confidence booster going into the 50 over series so, hopefully, we can have a 5-0 win in that series," added Taylor.

In the meantime, the West Indies Women's 'A' team weren't so lucky, as they fell 3-0 to their Pakistan counterparts following an eight-wicket loss in the third and final game.

West Indies 'A' batted first and made 99 for six in their allotted 20 overs, with captain Reniece Boyce top-scoring with 42 against Syeda Shah two for 13.

Ayesha Zafar then hit an unbeaten 53 to guide the visitors to victory.
