Walsh looking for consistency on Pakistan tour

West Indies Women's head coach Courtney Walsh says the short tour to Pakistan by the regional women could not have come at a better time, as the Windies look to fine-tune their preparations ahead of the ICC Women's World Cup qualifiers in Zimbabwe.

A returning Stafanie Taylor will lead a 15-member squad to Pakistan, and Walsh is keen on getting the girls some much-needed match practice with the key focus being scoring runs and being more consistent with the team all-round game.

"This is probably one of the most important tours we will have before the qualifiers because it is the last chance we will have to play some competitive cricket and to get match ready and match sharp," said Walsh.

The West Indies will play three one-day international at the National Stadium in Karachi from November 8 to 14.

This will be the West Indies Women's third bilateral series in 2021, after hosting Pakistan and South Africa in the Caribbean this summer. The West Indies players are currently in Antigua for a High-Performance training camp as part of the team's preparation for the upcoming Cricket World Cup qualifiers.

"It's important to get some good cricket under our belts in Pakistan. The results will be important but it's not the most important. The most important thing is to try and get the right combination to go down to the qualifiers because we might have to play eight games in 15 days," added Walsh.

The West Indies Women will travel directly to Zimbabwe after the ODI series for the ICC Women's Cricket World Cup qualifiers from November 21 to December 5. They will be one of 10 teams, along with Pakistan, aiming to secure one of three qualifying places for the ICC Women's Cricket World Cup in New Zealand in February 2022.

The West Indies have been drawn in Group 'A' of the qualifiers alongside Ireland, Netherlands, Papua New Guinea and Sri Lanka.
