Orange, Whitehouse stay perfect in SDC national stage

Orange from St James and Whitehouse from Westmorland continue their winning ways in Group C in the national phase of the Social Development Commission Cal's sponsored National Community T20 competition, following week two action, which culminated across several venues on the weekend.

In the feature game at the Trelawny Multipurpose Stadium, Orange secured a five-wicket win over Elgin Town from Hanover to move to two wins from as many games.

Elgin Town could only manage to get to 91 in 19 overs, with Samuel Evans bagging four wickets for 30 runs despite 18 from Andrew Walker.

Chachon Chambers hit 37 in leading Orange to 92 for five in 15.4 overs to seal the win. Mikhail Silva took three wickets for 16 runs for Elgin Town.

In the second game of the doubleheader, Whitehouse had a seven-wicket win over Troy CDC from Trelawny.

Troy could only manage 66 in 16 overs, with Lamar Scott grabbing four wickets for nine runs. Donald Tomlinson hit 33 in guiding Whitehouse to 67 for three in 12.4 overs.

Orange and Whitehouse are now on six points in Group C, with one round of matches to play.

In Group A, Eastwood Park of Kingston and St Andrew remained perfect with back-to-back wins, as they defeated Bushy Park/Church Pen from St Catherine by eight wickets at Chedwin Park.

Bushy Park/Church Pen scored 139 for nine, with national all-rounder Jeavor Royal getting 30, against two wickets for Domain Wilson. Javelle Coleman hit 77 not out to guide Eastwood Park to 140 for two in 14.4 overs.

In the second game of the doubleheader, May Pen Lions of Clarendon defeated Johnson Mountain from St Thomas by 93 runs to join Eastwood Park on six points from two games.

May Pen Lions posted 180 for four in their 20 overs, with Teino Osbourne getting 94 and Odain McCatty, 55. Johnoi Sappleton took four wickets for eight runs to restrict Johnson Mountain to 111 in 19.4 overs.

Other winners in the round were Race Course from Clarendon, Buff Bay of Portland and Bridgeport of Portmore.
