Rhea Dixon eagerly anticipates making her debut as the first overseas-born Sunshine Girl, believing that her style of play will tie into their system.

Dixon will represent Jamaica at the 11th edition of the Fast5 tournament in Christchurch, New Zealand, from November 11-12, and the 25-year-old is expected to don the green, black and gold in her primary role of goal-attack. She can also be deployed as a wing attack or goal shooter.

"I think one of the biggest things is, as I grew, matured and got to know my style of play, I really think my style would suit the Sunshine Girls best. I really want to be on the international stage, get better and test myself against the best players in the world. What a better place to do it than to do it here?" she queried rhetorically.

Dixon, who represented England at the under-21 level, qualified to play for the Sunshine Girls through her Jamaican grandparents. She added that representing the country would help her to know her heritage better.

"My grandparents from my mother's side are from Jamaica, and I also have family in St Elizabeth. My mother was born in England but travels back to Jamaica a lot, so it's just another opportunity for me to get to know the country, the heritage and the people I come from," Dixon stated.

The exciting talent believes she operates best with tall shooters, which will be perfect with captain Romelda Aiken-George, who stands six feet, four inches tall.

"I bring a lot of creativity, and I love to feed the tall shooters, which is obviously ideal coming up with Romelda (Aiken-George) and the rest of the shooters on the team. It's a lot of creativity, flair, movement, and hopefully, I'll fit in nicely with the team," she explained.

Dixon added that she earned the right to represent the country, and her cap wasn't one of tokenism.

"It's a massive honour, and I've been working hard at home and my whole career. It's not like I've just stepped in here and been gifted the opportunity. For me, it's a recognition of all my hard work," the former England representative voiced.
