Pinnock comes good for silver in the long jump in Paris

Long jumper Wayne Pinnock secured Jamaica's fourth medal of the Paris Olympics after claiming the silver in the men's long jump.

The former Kingston college athlete broke the sand with 8.36 metres on his second jump and that leap held up to secure second place behind eventual winner and defending champion Miltiadis Tentoglou of Greece, who leapt 8.48 metres on his second jump.

Pinnock has now added the Olympic silver medal to the World Championship silver medal he won in Budapest last year.

Tentoglou became the first man since Carl Lewis to defend the Olympic long jump title.

Nineteen-year-old Italian Mattia Furlani secured the bronze medal following his 8.34-metre attempt.

National champion Carey McLeod finished a disappointing 12th in the final after posting a best leap of 7.82 metres.
