My boyfriend says he will never have sex with another girl

I am a regular reader of your column. I became 18 years old six months ago. My boyfriend is 19 years old. To celebrate my birthday, we had sex and we did not use a condom.

We meet at least once a week at his parents' house, because it is more convenient for us to meet there. Every time we meet, we have sex. He promised me that he would not have sex with any other girl, so we do not have to use the condom. I told him I was scared. He said he could swear that no girl will get him to have sex with her, so I should not worry about that.

Pastor, do you think that I am doing the right thing?

Some men talk nonsense, and so girls need to learn to protect themselves. How can you be sure that this man would keep his word forever? What about if he meets a girl that is very easy to get and he has sex with her? It may not be something he planned, but it happened and he comes to you and has unprotected sex with you, and he exposes you to a sexually transmitted infection. You may even become pregnant.

Regardless of what this man said, if you are going to have sex with him, use the condom. There are some diseases that cannot be cured, and some sexual infections may cause long-term damage to your health. This may even lead to infertility.

So, stop listening to what your boyfriend says. He might like skin to skin, but if he loves you as much as he says, he should learn to protect you. So from now on, tell him no sex unless he is going to protect you and himself by using the condom.
