Embarrassed that I’m still living with my mom - Attracted to a woman who is 10 years older

February 15, 2022

Dear Pastor

I am a 22-year-old man working at a well-known company. I am currently living with my mom in a one-bedroom house. Every fortnight, I receive $30,000 after tax.

I don't have any major responsibilities besides giving my mother money for food but I can't save a dollar. I don't know why.

I recently met someone who is 10 years older than I am and I am ashamed to tell her about my living situation. Even though she's an older woman, I would love to have a relationship with her, Pastor. She is educated and independent as well and we are attracted to each other. She basically knows everything about me except that I am living in a one-bedroom home with my mother.

I need your advice, Pastor.

F.P.

Dear F.P.,

I am afraid that I cannot encourage you to go further in this relationship. You haven't even said whether this woman knows your age and how much you earn.

She is 32 and you are 22. I do not believe that you are mature enough to have an intimate relationship with her. She is an educated woman and it is likely that she has a good paying job. You should go back to school and get a good education so that you would be able to earn more money. I just don't feel that you should try to establish an intimate relationship with this woman.

If you are earning $30,000 every two weeks, why is it that you can't put down a little as savings? You have to learn to save, young man. Try and manage the little money that you are earning right now. Look around for another woman who is closer to your age. You should stay with your mother and help her until you are mature enough to go on your own.
