My girlfriend is too jealous - She doesn’t want me to text other girls
Dear Pastor,
I am 17 and I have a girlfriend. I am still in school, but I like this girl very much. She is my first serious girlfriend. She is 20. She is not in school anymore. I see her on Sundays, because that is the only time I have. I work part-time at a supermarket. She doesn't ask me for money. But I buy chocolate and other things for her. She is skinny, so I told her that I am trying to make her fat.
She is very jealous. She went into my phone and saw texts from other girls and she fussed about that. She even called one of the girls and told her not to mess with her boyfriend. I told her that she should not have called the girl, but she thinks that it is fun to do so. She is the only girl I have had sex with. She comes to see me when my parents are at church.
I don't know what to do to convince her that I don't have other girlfriends and that she is the only one who I truly love. She is too jealous. I don't know what to do with her, Pastor, so tell me what to do.
H.M.
Dear H.M.,
You are 17 and you are lovers with this 20-year-old. Don't make this relationship go to your head. Keep it in your heart, because you are very young and it may fizzle out.
Generally, girls at that age prefer older men because they want money. This girl doesn't ask you for money, so you are fortunate. I suppose she may give you money instead.
As to the text messages she saw in your phone, you told her that they don't mean anything to you. If they didn't mean anything, you should have deleted them. So you have set up yourself for unnecessary arguments with this woman.
Evidently, this girl had other men in her life before both of you became intimate friends. Again, I want to encourage you to stick with your books. Become a professional so that you can support yourself and even give your girlfriend something occasionally. Young man, I wish you well.
Pastor
