Police probing another murder in Gregory Park

May 18, 2017

The Portmore criminal investigation branch (CIB) has once more opened a murder investigation in Gregory Park, St, Catherine following a double shooting which left one man dead and another hospitalised today.

THE STAR understands that shortly after noon, a fruit vendor from the community 33 year-old Fabian Benjamin was shot and killed.

Reports from the police are that another man who was standing at Benjamin’s stall was also injured in the attack.

Our news team gathered that a group of men approached the stall and opened fire on the men.

On April 27, 33 year-old Alaska Castillo and 31 year-old Adrian Thomas were ambushed in the community.

According to the Caymanas Police, about 7 p.m. that evening, residents heard explosions and alerted them.

On their arrival, both men were seen in a car along the roadway with multiple gunshot wounds.

It is not clear if the incidents are related, however there has been an increase in fatal shooting linked to gang activities in the Gregory Park area.

Efforts to speak to commander for the St Catherine South police Division Senior Superintendent Robert Bennett proved futile.
