Update | Driver who fled Clarendon car crash involving students arrested at airport

The police have apprehended the driver who fled the scene of the crash in Clarendon that claimed the lives of two students and injured three others this morning at the Norman Manley International Airport trying to flea the country.

This was confirmed by Minister of Science, Energy, Telecommunications and Transport Daryl Vaz in a post on X, this afternoon.

He said more details will be provided.

The Clarendon police had indicated that a manhunt was launched to take the driver into custody.

He was driving a Subaru vehicle which collided with a Toyota Probox taxi.

The police reported that speeding played a role in the crash.

Two students of Lennon High School were killed and three others along with the taxi driver were injured and taken to hospital.

One of the hospilised students is reportedly in critical condition.
