Jah Cure speaks on Trinidad arrest

Days after reports surfaced that reggae artiste Jah Cure was arrested in Trinidad, the singer has broken his silence on the issue.

In a video posted to his Instagram account, the singer blasted the media for spreading what he claims were lies about the details surrounding the incident.

In the expletive-laden video, the entertainer was evidently upset, stating that what the media portrayed were lies.

"No media house nah carry da story yah," it started. "Bun jailhouse! Unu too ..... lie! This is what you wanna see happen to me? I'm a free ... ".

According to reports, the entertainer was brought to court by a local party promoter for an outstanding TT$83,000 for an event that did not happen. Reports in the Trinidad and Tobago Guardian newspaper said that the artiste was allowed to go free after lengthy discussions between his lawyer, Mario Merritt, and attorneys for the promoter. The newspaper said Jah Cure paid US$6,000 in cash to the court and agreed to pay the remainder on Monday evening.

Efforts to contact Jah Cure proved futile. Jah Cure was the latest Jamaican artiste to face legal troubles in Trinidad in recent times. Back in July, deejay Busy Signal was arrested by police in Port-of-Spain after a promoter sought an emergency court intervention against the entertainer.

It was reported that the artiste did not honour a concert date and the promoter was left suffering from a US$37,000 debt. Busy Signal was allowed to leave the

country after negotiating an agreement.
