Gang leader says 'at least one police officer must die' following deadly shooting in Portland
Tensions are boiling in Portland as cops ramp up security amid chilling intelligence that a gang leader has vowed that "at least one police officer must die" following a deadly police operation earlier this week.
The threat surfaced after Wednesday's early morning shootout in Sherwood Forest, East Portland, which left two alleged high-ranking gang members dead.
Killed in the operation were 21-year-old Troy McKenzie and 21-year-old Marlon Lewis, both with Kingston addresses and said to be top-tier figures in a Corporate Area gang.
According to a bulletin from the Jamaica Constabulary Force's National Intelligence Bureau, the gang leader behind the threat was reportedly spotted near the Port Antonio Police Station just hours after the fatal encounter.
The development has triggered heightened alert among police personnel in the parish, as lawmen brace for possible retaliation.
Reports are that during the operation, the two men allegedly engaged the police in a shootout.
Two firearms were seized at the scene, including a silver and black Taurus G3 pistol with a magazine containing three rounds, and another silver and black Taurus pistol with one round in the breach.
The situation remains tense as security forces continue to monitor the threat and intensify operations in the area.
