LA Lewis offers reward for Niketa Thomas

Social media has been abuzz this week after dancehall personality LA Lewis took to Facebook offering a cash reward for the whereabouts of, or the safe return of missing photographer Niketa Thomas.

Thomas and his cousin have been missing since October 5.

Lewis made the announcement in several posts on the popular social media website, offering J$430,000 as the reward. Some of the posts were accompanied by videos outlining the details of the reward.

The dancehall personality, born Horace Lewis, told THE STAR that he simply wants to play his part.

"Me see say nobody inna the entertainment industry nah do nothing fi find back Nick, who is a valuable part of the industry over the years," he said. "Mi and two a mi colleagues a put it up. Mi would a floss that every week inna dance, and mi feel a way fi see say Nick pay him dues and nobody inna the dancehall industry nah put out the effort."

Several users on the social networking service were,

however, less than amused.

One user commented: "SMH at the things that LA Lewis says and does to stay relevant in the public's eyes. He is nothing more than an attention-seeking piece a crap ...".

Having sought pro bono legal advice, THE STAR was informed that regardless of whether or not the reward produces desired leads or results, a person who complies to the terms of such an offer may be legally entitled to claim the reward.

The photographer's family says that they have yet to be

contacted by anyone about offering any rewards for his disappearance.
