Ras Haile Malekot releases HAIL H.I.M

Craft vendor-reggae artiste Ras Haile Malekot is gearing up to release his socially-conscious project titled Hail Him. According to the artiste, the project is poetic and will enlighten its listeners.

Produced by Conquering Lion Records, the artiste says the project was inspired by Haile Selassie and is available for pre-order on iTunes.

"The single came about as an inspiration from Haile Selassie I, the music itself, and how it speaks with its different melody, which brings about a certain fullness," Ras Malekot told the STAR.

He added: "Being a son of his majesty, meditating upon the king naturally through the musical inclination, the musical overtones, we get the message as it comes and we present it to the I as the I is so high, higher than I an I as king of kings and lord of lords his majesty rules over all."

Hail Him will be the lead single from Ras Haile Malekot's upcoming album, which will be released in 2016.

The artiste, who also dabbles in poetry, craft, and activism, says his work has been heavily influenced by Mutabaruka and the late dub poet Michael Smith.

Ras Haile Malekot was also featured in the locally produced film Rise Up, which featured the work of Turbulence, and Burning Spear, among other reggae artistes.

Malekot has so far released projects like Reparation, Coronation, and Drums of Africa.
