Rozah Roze gets gold - Song sampled by Kanye certified in the US

Veteran reggae artiste/comedian Noel 'Rozah Rose' Ellis has struck gold in the US, this as Kanye West's single 'All Day', which samples his over 10-year-old song 'Dance With Me', has sold more than 500,000 copies in that country.

All Day, which is featured on West's upcoming seventh studio album SWISH, spent several weeks on the Billboard Hot 100 singles chart, and was premiered by Kanye West earlier this year at the 2015 BRIT awards.

Rozah is the son of reggae great Alton Ellis, and also the brother to veteran comedian Owen 'Blakka' Ellis.

The artiste, who left Canada to reside in Jamaica in 2008, after his father's death, told The STAR in a previous interview that he had a feeling something special was happening with his music overseas during his absence.

Since the Rozah Roze sample, several persons have viewed Dance With Me on YouTube, some admitting that they only became aware of the song due to Kanye West's sample.

Forbes.com also listed the song All Day as one of Kanye West's best sellers for 2015.

When THE STAR contacted Rozah Rose, he stated that he was surprised at the accomplishment.

"I feel proud. I was a bit surprised because I wasn't hearing the song like one time. When it was just released, I used to hear it a lot, but I'm really pleased about this achievement," he told THE STAR.

West is no stranger to dabbling in reggae music. The rapper sampled Super Beagle's Dust A Sound Boy in 2012, that effort was certified double platinum. He also collaborated with Assassin for a sexually charged effort called I'm In It.
