Shanty Town video released
Veteran deejay/producer Suga Roy has finally released the music video for his remake of Shanty Town, originally created by Desmond Dekker and The Aces in the 1960s.
The artiste, who collaborated with deejay Busy Signal, Conrad Crystal and singjay Zareb, says he is confident that the video will receive strong rotation on social media and cable TV due to the popularity of the song and the high quality of the visuals.
The video for Shanty Town was recently premiered on popular reggae website
reggaeville and has already received more than 5,000 views. The effort was produced by Suga Roy's Fire Ball Records, while the video was directed by Dameon Gayle.
"Is a song mi always love, and this African bredrin in Switzerland always tell mi to do it over 'cause Desmond Dekker version big in Africa," said Suga Roy.
Suga Roy has been recording for more than 20 years and is one-half of the duo, Suga Roy and Conrad Crystal. He has toured places such as Europe, Brazil, Colombia, Japan and Thailand.
Conrad Crystal is best known for the 1980s hit, True Love Will Never Die.
The music video for Shanty Town was filmed in downtown Kingston. Up-and-coming singer Dasia also did a song entitled Cheating on the Shanty Town rhythm.
