Omar Banks visits Ja for new projects

Former professional cricketer, now

reggae artiste, Omari Banks, recently visited Tuff Gong International where he collaborated with notable musicians for upcoming projects.

The overseas-based artiste said Jamaica has the right climate for music production, which explains why several international acts have travelled here to improve the quality of their work.

Artistes such as American rapper J Cole and Canadian singer Lucas DiPasquale chose Tuff Gong to work on their craft. Acts such as Rich Homie Quan, Trey Songz, Neyo, Safaree, among others have worked with other local studios.

Banks, who has been making a name for himself in the US, Caribbean and Europe, told The Star working in Jamaica was productive.

"The week in Jamaica was a really productive one. I got four records done and am really happy with the music we created. I was surrounded with musicians who live and breathe music. That and the fact that Jamaica always brings out such a positive and inspirational vibe, I can't wait for fans to hear it. You can expect a step up from my last album. It promises to be fresh but still staying true to what I represent, which is a real and organic feel to my music," he said.

Fresh from the Welcome To Jamrock Cruise, the artiste is looking forward to continue his work in charity, and will perform at charitable events during the festive season.

"The Jamrock Cruise was a great vibe. I thoroughly enjoyed myself on the ship, reggae music is a lifestyle and vibe, and it is truly experienced on the ship. It was a pleasure meeting Jr Gong and the entire Marley family as well as catching up with friends of mine like Morgan Heritage. Watching Jah cure and Third World is always a highlight," Banks said.
