Dancehall artiste Flippa Mafia is now facing up to 30 years in prison after jurors involved in his seven-week trial arrived at a verdict yesterday, THE WEEKEND STAR has learnt.

The deejay, born Andrew Davis, 37, was found guilty in Camden County Superior Court of first-degree distribution of cocaine, second degree money laundering, and conspiracy.

According to www.philly.com, a Jamaican dancehall reggae star was convicted in New Jersey yesterday for his role in an international drug ring that shipped "multiple kilograms" of cocaine from California to New Jersey and Philadelphia.

THE WEEKEND STAR understands that Davis, a former resident of Swedesboro, New Jersey, was the alleged mastermind behind the international coke distribution network that included five South Jersey men, two men from Philadelphia, and Davis' two brothers.

investigations

Our news team gathered that the investigation began in March 2011 when agents from the Camden High-Intensity Drug Trafficking Area (HIDTA) Task Force and the Burlington County Prosecutor's Office seized eight kilograms of cocaine from a mail facility in Marlton intended for the reggae star and co-defendant Marsha Bernard of Cherry Hill.

In the course of the investigation dubbed 'Operation Next Day Air', detectives also seized more than 26 kilograms of cocaine, worth nearly US$1 million, two handguns, and more than US$500,000 in cash.

THE WEEKEND STAR understands that Flippa Mafia will be sentenced in 2016, and the first-degree charge carries a sentence of 10 to 20 years in state prison, while the second-degree charges carry a sentence of five to 10 years in prison.

Following the verdict, Acting Attorney General John J. Hoffman said, "This verdict sends a powerful message to the suppliers who traffic narcotics into New Jersey and fuel addiction and violence in our communities - no matter where you live, we're going to investigate you, track you down, and bring you to justice."

Flippa Mafia, also called 'Flippa Moggla' or 'Flossing King' in dancehall circles, is known for songs like Unfinished House, Dem Yah, and Hear Mi Hear.
