Alkaline makes 'Impact' on YouTube
Alkaline's new single 'Impact' has garnered over a million views on YouTube.com in just 10 days.
The single, produced by Gego Don Records and distributed by 21st Hapilos Digital, seems poised to become the first hit record for the label.
According to Gego Don, Impact is a record which is intended to be an inspiration to the youth.
"Impact is a gift to the youth who face many adverse situations but are destined to achieve greatness. This is the first time producing, and I'm humbled and grateful for all the love and support I've been receiving on this project. Summer is coming and fans can look out for more bangers. Nuff respect goes out to the fans and maximum respect to the man himself Alkaline," he said.
STRONG FAN BASE
Since his break a few years ago, Alkaline continues to develop a strong fan base online and has been making an impact both locally and internationally.
The deejay's debut album New Level Unlocked debuted at number one on iTunes in 2016 and also climbed to number one on the Billboard chart the same year.
He was also nominated for a MOBO (Music of Black Origin) Award in 2016, but lost out to rival deejay Popcaan.
In addition to being streamed a million times on YouTube.com in 10 days, Impact also became the number one trending record on YouTube, fending off competition from Dexta Daps and Ishawna.
Impact will be available on all major online digital stores on Friday. Vice-president of content at Hapilos, Nikki Z, said the song is living up to its name.
"It's a song that grabs you with lyrics. The fact that the song has amassed over a million views in a week tells you his fans agree," she told THE STAR.
