United States Rumble Sound Clash champions Platinum Kids have been added to the line-up of the annual Sound Festival Vibes in the Park to be held in New York this summer.

The event will be hosted by veteran sound clash promoters Irish and Chin and is widely respected as an event that celebrates Jamaica's sound-system culture.

Platinum Kids said commercial demand has gone up since winning the coveted sound clash title, and the group promises that fans will be getting a special treat.

"It's like an adrenaline rush to see the crowd of several thousands before us and know for the next 20 to 30 minutes you can bring them on a musical journey of enjoyment. We are not new to the big stage because we have performed at numerous park shows in the United States, which garnered between 15,000 and 20,000 patrons," said Paul of Platinum Kids.

SOUND-SYSTEM GREATS

The other half of the duo, Marcus Platinum, said he is pleased to be rubbing shoulders with sound-system greats.

"The difference with performing on a show like Sound Fest is that you are going to be on a stage with selectors and MCs who have received several accolades by competing and winning in various sound clash competitions. Sound men who take pride inna dem dub box can at any moment just fly it open. Therefore, just know seh Platinum Kids will be at Sound Fest ready to entertain the people prepared with our dub selections as well," he said.

Platinum Kids are also set to depart for Miami, Florida this weekend, for the 11th annual Best of the Best concert. They are booked to perform during the sound system segment.

Sound Festival Vibes in the Park is set to be held on Sunday July 30 inside Roy Wilkins Park, Queens, New York.
