Strictly 2K gets high praises
Following a successful staging a few months ago, Strictly 2K: Best of the 2000s returned last Friday night to high praises from patrons.
Hundreds converged outside the National Arena in St Andrew, eagerly awaiting the musical treat promised by promoters in the weeks leading up to the event. Partygoers were promised non-stop tunes from the millennium, and they were not disappointed as the night's deejays delivered hit after hit.
DJ Nicco and ZJ Liquid were the standout DJs on the night, skilfully weaving their web of musical bliss that had the audience totally captivated from start to finish. Patrons danced up a storm as songs like R Kelly's Fiesta, Britney Spears I Did It Again and Backstreet Boy's Everybody got the crowd warmed up and ready for the dancehall hits.
When dancehall songs were played, the energy inside the venue was turned up a notch as favourites from Elephant Man, Beenie Man, Baby Cham, Lady Saw and Ding Dong had patrons dancing until sweat began dripping from their foreheads.
At one point during DJ Nicco's set, things got so hot on the dance floor that he had to cool it down a bit with a few Bob Marley selections. Patrons who THE STAR spoke to at the event said that after only two stagings, the event was well on its way to becoming a staple on the entertainment scene.
When THE STAR spoke with ZJ Chrome, one of the promoters of the event, he was overwhelmed with the support the event has garnered in such a short period.
"Still a lot of room for improvement, which we won't hesitate on fixing to make the experience better until we get to perfection, but we are overwhelmed at the support," he said.
