Red Stripe to give big buss at Sumfest

Mikey Bennett will be among the judges.

Red Stripe, title sponsors for Reggae Sumfest, are looking for the island's next big stars who will get the chance to perform at the reggae festival.

The beer giants have offered an amateur performer the opportunity to command the stage at the highly anticipated music festival in the Red Stripe Big Buss Talent Search.

Interested parties were invited to participate in a blind audition, by recording a one-minute video of themselves performing an original song, then emailing or posting that tape for consideration in the competition.

Registration for the talent search closed on Monday, June 19.

After registration, potential candidates will go through two rounds of judging. First, submitted vocals will be reviewed by a judging panel of three, including music industry professional Mikey Bennett, along with one representative from Red Stripe and another from Reggae Sumfest.

Secondly, the best of the bunch will then be invited to perform for the public, while under the scrutiny of the same judging panel.

As part of the deal, the Big Buss competition winners will receive vocal training and coaching in stage presence, as well as some studio time to record their original track.
