Fast-rising recording artiste Langi Di Future is determined to make his mark on the local music scene and has produced a new body of work in the form of a mixtape, which he hopes will win him a loyal fan base.

The Past is already picking up momentum due to the lead single, Anywhere, which has been receiving favourable rotation on local and overseas-based radio stations.

"I've spent many years learning my craft and sharpening my skills. Now I'm ready to take my career to the next level. Many of these artistes are following each other and I am trying to take a different approach by harnessing my own style," said Langi.

The artiste has also decided to broaden his musical range to include pop music, drawing inspiration from Drake and Tory Lanez.

VERSATILITY

"My mixtape features a variety of genres, including dancehall, reggae and pop music. I did this project to show my versatility, because I am an artiste who has the ability to spit mad rhymes on different types of beats. I have also begun to create a new sound/genre that consists of jazz, reggae, dancehall and soul. This new sound is expected to captivate any and every ear it reaches," he said.

The mixtape consists of new and relatively old material that were unreleased in previous years.

However, the artiste told THE STAR that fans have been appreciating the music, regardless.

"This mixtape marks the transition into my new sound and it also reminds my hardcore fans of where it all started. I have been working hard to secure this mixtape among some of the best mixtapes in the dancehall scene now and fans of good music should give it a listen," he said.

The Past is scheduled to be released on July 9. However, a release party was held on June 29 at the Jungle Fyah Jerk Centre restaurant.
