Singing Sweet targeted by scammers

United States-based label Doc Music Group (DM G), the parent company of Sweet Music, has been forced to go on the attack against persons posing as booking agents, who are trying to rob potential promoters who are trying to book Singing Sweet.

According to Dr Dave Wallace, the chief executive producer of D.M. G, unscrupulous persons are looking to reap from Singing Sweet, who is known for songs like Oh Donna, Don't Worry and Not A Bad Thing.

"There has been a growing demand for Singing Sweet to perform. What people are trying to do is to pose as agents to capitalise on that high demand, and also unscrupulous promoters have been advertising the artistes for shows for which there is no official booking contract or understanding. We cannot allow them to damage the artiste's brand," Wallace said.

He said that the indie label has noted at least two Singing Sweet pages which have emerged on social media platforms such as Facebook and Instagram, which purport to book for Singing Sweet.

Wallace said that steps have been taken to shutdown the fake pages

In the wake of this development, Singing Sweet's management team have issued a warning to prospective clients, telling them to be mindful of fraudulent mediums being used to book the dancehall artiste.

"I do not handle my own bookings, and it definitely would not be over social media. Anyone who wants to book me can email drwallace@myytd.com or link me on my official Instagram page, @realsingingsweet," Singing Sweet said yesterday.

Over the weekend, Singing Sweet performed at a stage show in St Mary where he earned major forwards for his recent song, Not a Bad Thing, which he was forced to pull-up twice because of the enthusiastic crowd response. He also performed Caan Get over You and Don't Worry.
