Ocean's Eleven brings life to Portland

Winifred Beach in Portland is expected to come alive this Independence Day. This as Drewill Foundation gears up to host the annual Ocean's Eleven event which will feature live performances, as well as musical juggling from popular DJs.

According to the organiser of the event, Andre Williams, Ocean's Eleven is not just another party, it is an entire movement.

"My brand is not just a promotions brand that sells entertainment. We are a foundation focused on giving back to the community and assisting with the development of our fellow Jamaicans. We are also looking to play our role in promoting Jamaica's culture, and on the 6th of August we are looking to do just that," he said.

The promoter said Portland is one of Jamaica's most beautiful parishes. However, he said the entertainment scene could do with some revitalising.

"Ocean's Eleven will be an event that generates business, attention and all encompassing services relating to the live entertainment business in Portland. We are focused on bringing high-calibre local acts to the parish and host regular events. This parish is one of the most beautiful in the island. However, it is often seen as Jamaica's best kept secret. We are about to change all that and revolutionise entertainment, because there is no way Portland should not be seen as the main stop for visitors," he said, noting that part proceeds from Ocean's Eleven will be donated to selected high schools.

Music will be provided by DJ Mental, DJ Sanjay, Red Heat, and other sound systems. There will also be live performances from Raine Seville, Blakkman and Garrizon. Hosting duties will be conducted by Gary Sherlock, Trenz Nation, Mad Max, Clean Crew and Erika Celeb.

Admission to the event attracts a price tag of $500.
