Promoter excited about Mavado, Alkaline show
Events manager Hans Mullings is looking forward to hosting the first staging of his live stage show, Elite Music Festival, on September 17, at the Central Broward Regional Park and Stadium in Florida.
According to the veteran promoter, who has had much success with events like BRT Week, Xtreme Wet and Wild and Sandz, the festival is the brainchild of his ambition to give patrons a professional representation of high-quality music from the best recording artistes.
Mullings has already booked dancehall artistes Alkaline, Mavado, and Jahmiel for the event.
"This is not just a show. It is planned to bring people together, and we are going for an annual product. We will be having a live band show because if the band is great and the artiste is great, it will give patrons a unique feel. People always say stay in your lane, but we are not like that, we try to be in every lane," he said.
Mullings has also booked Renaissance Disco for the event.
"We have done our research, and, believe me, it is a win-win when you hear about Alkaline, Mavado, and Jahmiel on one stage. The response as been wonderful, and people are very excited," he said.
The event will also carry a meet-and-greet session, and patrons who want to share in that particular experience will be charged US$250 (J$32,379).
"We are looking to get a few thousand people because this area in Florida has a strong Caribbean population. Mavado hasn't performed here in three years, and so people are anticipating his appearance. I am trying to find a major hip-hop artiste now, but I haven't made a final decision as yet. We also made sure to give this event a general name so that in coming years, we can bring in different genres of music like EDM and others," he said.
Mullings also noted that for this staging of the event he would be using one backing band in order to eliminate the possibility of lengthy band changes.
