Renford Taylor missed by music industry

The entertainment fraternity has expressed its sorrow at the death of the owner of Taylor's Funeral Home and a key player in the entertainment fraternity, Renford 'Rennie' Taylor. Taylor died at his Duhaney Park, St Andrew, home last week.

Frankie Campbell, Fab 5's bass player and chairman of the Jamaica Association of Vintage Artistes and Affiliates (JAVAA), said he received word that Taylor died in his sleep at his home. He revealed that Taylor had complained of feeling ill over the previous weekend and was taken to the hospital for treatment. He was given the ok to go back home but died a few days later.

Devastating blow

Campbell expressed sadness at Taylor's passing, pointing out that he wasn't feeling ill prior to last week. He says Taylor's death is a devastating blow to the music industry.

"Renford is an executive member of JAVAA, he has done most of the funerals for us over the last few years. He was very proactive when it comes to that (arranging funerals for veteran artistes)," Campbell said. "He gave the industry a lot of help and this is a tremendous loss for us. You could always depend on him and he was really important to JAVAA."

Campbell says although he is saddened by Taylor's passing, he is taking solace in the fact that he died peacefully.

Taylor was the man behind laying several entertainers to rest, including John Holt and Edi Fitzroy.
