STAR of the Month: Cologne haffi a kick - Govana believes image is important

For STAR of the Month Govana, smelling good is one of his top priorities. In his hit song, Breeze, Govana sings: "Gal smell di don and a lose control," and it seems these are words his lives.

Pointing out that both males and females should always wear a pleasant scent, the Bake Bean deejay says he invests a lot in fragrances which he 'bathes' himself in.

"Cologne haffi a kick, kick up di whole place. Man fi smell good, and woman likewise. Mi have countless spray cause all mi shoes get spray," he told THE STAR.

"Memba how stage show go. When yuh deh pon di stage, woman dem hold on pon yuh pants foot, so when dem hold on pon yuh shoes, dem a say: 'Yuh smell good eeh'," he explained.

Also a self-confessed shoe addict, Govana says he has a wide variety of footwear, some of which he is yet to wear.

"I have a shoes fetish. Mi have countless. Mi have like 10 pair weh mi neva wear yet," he told THE STAR.

Despite believing that image is crucial for an entertainer, he feels that as an artiste one should strive to be original.

"Image is very important, but if yuh a go put on a image fi sell some units or music, it nah go mek no sense because after a while, yuh a go get bored and yuh a go get tired a it and yuh a go want fi be yuhself," he said.

Govana also contends that when artistes try to use their image to push their careers, eventually fans will find out that it is just a ploy to boost the sale of their songs.

"When yuh be fake to di people dem and try reveal yuhself, dem nah go want it because dem nah go want yuh fi dat. So me feel sey yuh fi be yuhself," he told THE STAR.

"Yah go put on some locks because yuh want to sing conscious songs, that nuh mek nuh sense cause when yuh trim and run out, the people dem a go boo yuh," he added.
