Dancehall singjay D'Angel is no stranger to creating female anthems. Her latest one, Frighten Friday, produced by Dear Dream Records and College Boiz Productions, encourages women to maintain their independence and not be manipulated by their male counterpart.

The song's reception has inspired the artiste to release an accompanying T-shirt line, Frighten Friday Square Collection.

"The ladies are loving it because it is empowering them to not do stupid things and even if a man is giving you anything make sure it is in your name. He will take back everything and leave you on your face and yuh haffi start all over again," D'Angel told the STAR.

The line boasts lyrics from the track such as Nuh Bwoy Cyah Use Mi An Style Mi' and Yuh Cyah Tek Back Nutten Weh Yuh Buy Mi.

Known for songs like Stronger, Break Free and Woman Power, D'Angel believes it is her purpose to uplift women.

"That is what I do, I empower," she said. "From day one with Downtown Girls til now, I've always been empowering women cause that is just my calling. It's an all-female rhythm and because a me seh female empowerment, I came up with the song quick and fast. I went to the studio, I never had anything planned or written, it just came up and it's been another anthem for the females again, so a just God a work."

an affinity for fashion

A former model, D'Angel has always had an affinity for fashion, and even operated a boutique for several years. Will she be expanding her new line of merchandise any time soon?

"I think I'm going to watch it grow because I've I had a fashion store before, Angel's Boutique, and because of my music, I had to give up some things," she said. "I am a full-time mother and full-time artiste, so I have to be doing everything online for now. I'll be doing something for 2019, so stay tuned."
