Gospel artiste Carlene Davis is on an assignment for the Lord. The entertainer, who released her album 'The Assignment' back in November 2018, is looking forward to bringing the messages from the compilation to schoolchildren across the island.

In an interview with The Gleaner in November, the gospel artiste said that the album was inspired by a track of the same title and explained that the message she wants listeners to take away from the album is that everyone is special and has a purpose. With hopes of helping young people unlock their purpose, Davis plans to visit more than 20 high schools islandwide to perform songs from the album.

"Today, our young people face a lot of challenges in and out of our schools. Some are unchurched, others have low self-esteem, identity crisis, home and financial unstableness. We believe God gave us this song so that we can share it with the next generation so they can become confident, knowing that there is a purpose in their lives, there is an assignment. And in spite of what people may think or say, the assignment God has for each of us is greater than what man thinks of us," she said.

Speaking with THE WEEKEND STAR recently, Davis revealed that the 17-track album, which is now available on all major digital platforms, has been doing extremely well since its release. Based on the messages she hopes to send with the project, Davis wants everyone who listens to the tracks on the album to recognise their calling.

"The Lord downloaded that song The Assignment, which speaks to the fact that there is an assignment on each of us living here on Earth, and we need to seek God to confirm that assignment. You see, God says in Jeremiah 29:11: 'For I know the plans I have for you,' declares the Lord, 'plans to prosper you ... to give you hope and a future.' Therefore, there is a plan by God for each and every one of us," she said.

In addition to the online platforms, the album is also available at the two major airports (Norman Manley International and Sangster International), Fontana Pharmacy locations islandwide, and Music Mart.
