International Weekend kicks off tomorrow

Party promoter Damage Control Ent will kick off its annual Easter party series, International Weekend, tomorrow.

According to Dane Wilson, CEO of Damage Control, this year's event is expected to attract a large turnout as, for the first time, they will be having live performances.

He added that partygoers oftentimes have to travel outside of Kingston for series events, so International Weekend is always highly anticipated for those wishing to stay in the country's capital.

"There are a lot of events happening elsewhere on the island and we wanted to give people a reason to stay in Kingston because, after all, Kingston is the culture capital of the region. We also priced it so affordable, as we wanted the event to be accessible," he said.

This is the third staging of the Easter series that he says has been providing an income for dozens of persons.

"International Weekend officially started in 2016, but International Swagg, our flagship event, started eight years ago as a street dance and gradually got bigger each year. It is not just a set of parties, but it provides jobs for a lot of persons, including the peanut and jerk chicken vendors. This can only do good for Kingston as persons look towards benefiting each year," he said.

International Weekend kicks off on Friday at The Domes on Hagley Park Road with International Swagg.

'Pan Di Riva' follows on Saturday in Hagley Gap, St Thomas, and will feature a live performance from Munga Honourable.

The series will continue on Sunday with the all-white breakfast party at the Aqueduct Bar, Old Hope Road, followed by the beach party at Sugarman's Beach on Easter Monday.

Charly Black and Jada Kingdom are also expected to give a captivating performance on Monday.
