He made headlines back in September when he declared himself a proud virgin. That hasn’t changed, and neither has his mandate to get young people to avoid sexual immorality.

In fact, come 2020, gospel rapper Lucas Musiq will be taking things to the next level as he strengthens his music ministry.

The entertainer says that since revealing that he was waiting for the Lord to send him a partner, he has been encouraged by the outpouring of support he has received, particularly from young people.

He says that their words have given him the confidence he needs to stay the course.

“People see me pan road and ask, ‘Nuh you a di virgin yute?’ and me laugh and say yes. Me go out, and people a say ‘virgin rapper’, and I don’t have a problem wid people a say things because it also reach a point weh people a say dem proud a me. It’s not a boasting thing or nothing because I just want to be an inspiration to the young people,” he said. “My songs have been circulating all over, and people are connecting and getting familiar with them, and their reactions have really encouraged me to give this ministry everything I have.”

The rapper said that come next year, he has much to share with the industry, starting with his music video release on January 17.

“For 2020, my aim is still to get young people to avoid sexual immorality, and it won’t be an easy task, but I’m up for it. I want to impact people all over, and in order fi yuh do dat, people affi like yuh, dem affi into yuh, dem affi take on to yuh. Nobody nah go listen to somebody dem nuh like,” he said. “That’s why my image is like this. I want to connect with the young people. When you establish a connection, it will be easier to change lives.”

Speaking of making connections, the rapper said that he recently got the opportunity to work with a few of Jamaica’s popular social-media personalities on his upcoming video Switch Up The Cycle, from his sophomore album, Playtime Is Over (PTIO), which is also to be released next year.

The video features the likes of Prince Pine, Fat Skull, iHeart Manii, and Pang the Prankster.

“People might be like, ‘How yah Christian and have so many unsaved playing roles in a music video, a Christian thing that you’re doing?’,” he said. “But I’m trying to bring something new, a message of love. I’m saying, ‘Switch up the cycle’.”

He said that the personalities told him that they didn’t know that gospel could sound like this.

“It was something new for them, and hearing them say that was an ‘A’ for me and an ‘A’ for Christ,” he said.
