Zagga believes we ‘shall overcome’

While practising social distancing, recording artiste Zagga still managed to go all around the world for his latest music video, 'Shall Overcome'. Uplifting in its message and groovy with the music, the visuals feature portraits of people across the globe - from the United Kingdom to Kenya. In the slide show of encouraging faces, dancehall fans will spot familiar ones like Chi Ching Ching and emerging act Khxos.

"We find a way to do it, and it's easier. We just reach out to some people and tell them we need a video saying, 'We shall overcome', because really, that a the message right now. Yuh nuh haffi lef' yuh yaad, yuh nuh haffi dress up. You can do them ting yah from the comfort of your own space," Zagga told THE WEEKEND STAR.

"We couldn't do the bag a people ting. We had to keep it as small as possible, which was three to five people. We wanted people to participate in the video same way, but we couldn't have people a come pon set," he explained.

Executive-produced by Amini Music and composed by Gloheart Music, Shall Overcome was written about two weeks ago, in an attempt to turn attention to the light at the far end of the tunnel. The result is radio-ready, relevant and representative of sentiments held across the globe.

"Because it nuh look good right now," Zagga said. "There are other situations, even after we overcome this, that will need that word of motivation as well," the artiste added.
