Dancehall artiste AceGawd has confirmed that he is officially off the market.

This follows a post that the dancehall deejay made on Instagram on Wednesday wearing a custom-made purple and white suit as he stands with his bride and wife, Sophia Bewry McLarthy.

"It is not for a music video; this was my wedding. Sophie and I met at a video shoot last year and we start vibe from there, kept in contact because of the connection we had and when I realised the type of person she is, I decided she was the one to marry," he told THE WEEKEND STAR. "I am young but looking forward to making a future with my wife."

The wedding ceremony took place in St Mary last Friday, and was the most appropriate time leading into the weekend of love, he said, with them being able to take a mini-honeymoon at RIU Hotel to celebrate their union. For their first dance, the couple moved to K-Ci and JoJo's All My Life. The 25-year-old recording artiste, whose given name is Sadeki McLarthy, is known for a hardcore image and recording style and has even been at the top of controversial dancehall news. But he expressed that there is more to him than meets the eye or what people hear in his music.

"Call it say this is the romantic side of me then and is not every side I will show everybody yuh zimi. The fans just getting a glimpse of it from seeing that I'm actually in a relationship and I am serious about my marriage. Is not about the 'evil' people see in my lyrics, or the rough dancehall side. She sees a different side of me," AceGawd said.

Noting that many fans have been actively asking him to release more music, he added: "Now me ah focus on me personal life. Music is lined up but I don't want to say any date. I have to balance music and my marriage. Me nuh want get caught up with the music and dancehall culture and I can't make my wife feel left out or lonely."

The Knocka deejay and songwriter said that the main thing that attracted him to Bewry was how supportive she was of his career. A record label owner herself, he saw that she has similar goals.

"She is an understanding woman, a supportive partner, 100 per cent ... through music and outside of music. And we have goals that we want to accomplish together and help each other to achieve. Being married should not affect how people think of me as an artiste. Once ah AceGawd fan, you will support that," he said.

THE OPPOSITE

AceGawd became a dancehall sensation with the release of the popular Mark X & Axio (Choppa Life) single in December 2018, becoming one of the most popular songs of the genre in the following year. It has garnered 3.2 million views on YouTube and had many persons labelling him as a scammer. But his wife told THE WEEKEND STAR that "Sadeki is the opposite of who or what people think he is".

"What attracted me to him was that he wasn't pushy and he kept it respectful, completely different from the Mark X & Axio deejay. He is a reserved person and he was a homebody. I'm used to artistes that like to live on the road and in the studio. That was never it for him. We are excited to continue our life together and who knows what will come from us on the music business side," Bewry McLarthy continued.
